Our Members Help Keep the Environment Clean

By recycling we are keeping some of our waste out of the landfills, for an example, an aluminum can will stay buried for up to 500 years before it disappears. Americans threw away 36 billion cans last year, and we can play a big part in keeping those cans out of the landfills.

Recycling aluminum saves a huge amount of energy. This saved energy is also keeping the environment clean, first by reducing the amount of natural resources that are being used, and second by reducing pollution.

Put the word out to your friends and family that you are "Going Green". Tell your Grandparents, neighbors, and cousins that you want them to help. Maybe you can organize a program for your school to "Go Green," Ask your teacher what can be done.

Next set up a place to store your recyclables, check with your parents for the best location. Then start your collection!

The Club Member standings will be updated and listed below on a weekly basis. Remember the contest ends on August 23, 2008. Winners will be contacted by phone on Friday August 29th so they can be at the game on Sunday to receive their prizes.

2		Daniel KCC # 1 is in first place with 40 pounds. He has recycled 1,280 cans!
3		Danielle B. KCC # 79 is in second place with 31 pounds. She has recycled 992 cans!
4		AJ KCC # 2 is in third place with 9 pounds. He has recycled 288 cans!
5		TJ KCC # 5 is in fourth place with 9 pounds. He has recycled 288 cans!
